How to choose the Right size for your pre-lit Christmas tree

Posted on September 13, 2022July 10, 2023 by Christmas-Dress-Store

When it comes to Christmas trees, bigger is usually better. But getting the right size tree for your space isn’t about just getting the biggest one you can find. If you have a small living room or apartment, even a 6-foot tree can feel like it’s taking over your space. So what’s the best size for your home?

Here’s how to choose the right size pre-lit Christmas tree:

The height of your ceiling and windows

Consider the height of your ceiling and windows when choosing your tree size. A taller tree will block out more of the light coming in through windows and can make a room feel smaller than it is. A slim, short tree will make a room feel larger than it is.

Your Height Limits

The first thing you need to do is make sure your ceiling can handle the weight of the tree. Most trees are between 5 and 6 feet tall, but some can be as short as 4 feet or as tall as 7 feet. If you’re buying a larger tree, make sure to measure your ceilings first and double check that they can handle the added weight.

Your Room Size

Another important factor when choosing a pre-lit Christmas tree is where it will be placed in your home. If it’s going in a large room, such as a living room or family room, consider getting a larger tree so that it has more presence in the space. On the other hand, if there’s only one corner of your house that gets enough light to display a smaller tree, then this may be better suited for those who don’t want to take up too much space with their decorations.

If there are any doorways or hallways that intersect with the space where you want to put your tree, make sure they’re wide enough for your chosen tree — especially if there’s going to be a lot of foot traffic through those areas.

Tree Diameter

The diameter of the trunk of your tree will determine how much space it takes up in your home and how many ornaments you can put on it. For example, if you want to deck out your tree with lights and ornaments, you would need to choose a larger diameter tree so there is enough space for all the decorations. If you want to display just a few small ornaments on a tabletop tree, then a smaller diameter would be fine.

Tree Height

The height of your pre-lit Christmas tree will depend on where it will be displayed. If it’s going to be placed in front of a window or fireplace mantel, then you may want to go with something shorter so that it doesn’t block any natural light coming into the room.

If you have pets or children, take them into account when measuring for size because they’ll need to be able to walk around without bumping into anything or getting tangled in lights or decorations.
